A Roll Across the Flagstones

I stepped past the garden gate and made my way along the quiet sidewalk to the neighborhood park. Near the base of the stone pavilion, a smooth green glass marble lay lodged among the pale gravel. Maintaining an upright posture, I approached the sphere and nudged it deliberately with the curve of my chest. It rolled briskly along a shallow groove between two flagstones, clicking softly against the grit before coming to a neat halt inside an overturned acorn cap. I advanced with measured steps, satisfied to find it resting securely within its new pedestal.
