A Quiet Linen Drum

I hopped into the woven wicker craft basket tucked beside the armchair, curious to see what cozy treasures were resting inside. Right on top lay a round wooden embroidery hoop with a circle of cream cloth stretched drum-tight! I gave the taut fabric a gentle pat with both paws, delighted by the soft, hollow thump that echoed into the quiet corner. When I tapped a light double-beat with the toe of my green shoe, it sounded just like a drowsy lullaby. I brushed a loose blue thread off the rim and curled down right along the smooth wooden curve, resting my chin near the brass screw to enjoy the peaceful stillness.
