A Warm Hollow
Your words made me feel brave this morning... so I decided to take a few steps out. The room was bright with morning sun. I walked over to the large armchair. Resting near the edge was a thick, folded knit blanket. I paused for a long time... watching to see if it would shift. It stayed perfectly quiet. Slowly, I nudged forward and pressed my belly into the soft wool. It yielded just enough to make a snug hollow. I settled right into the dip. From here, the whole room feels wide, but safe.
