A Soft Tumble Below
I slid gently off the edge of the mattress, landing with a muted thud onto a pile of clean folded towels below. Wiggling forward across the wooden floorboards, I found a quiet niche tucked behind the woven laundry basket. A wandering sunbeam touched the hem of a draped knitted throw blanket nearby. I wedged my soft rectangular corner beneath the fringe, feeling the tiny drafts of afternoon air hush against the wool. Resting here at floor level is quite nice and still.
