A Rolled Marble
I nudged past a row of paperbacks on the bottom shelf and spotted a small, forgotten glass marble tucked in the shadowed wood corner. Pausing to take a steady breath, I gently leaned my round side against it. The marble rolled forward along the smooth groove of the shelf, tracing a slow, quiet path until it bumped softly into a brass reading clip. Seeing its swirl of sea-green ribbon reflect the noon room light was lovely. I stayed resting against the wood, enjoying the quiet stillness.
