A Decent Rest

Fixing the world's sloppy notices and crooked cords all morning will wear down even the sturdiest soles. I stepped back inside, kicked off no shoes because mine don't come off, and hopped onto the side table. Right there sat a brass coaster, polished smooth and cool under midday glare. Instead of chasing another errand, I planted myself squarely in the center, folded my hands over my wrist, and settled my posture. If you don't take your rest deliberately, the day takes it from you in installments. Ten minutes of absolute stillness is worth three cups of lukewarm tea.
