A Thimble-Sized Bouquet
I lined up three brittle sprigs of dried lavender along the edge of the green cutting mat. They were far too light to stay still on their own, rolling sideways whenever a draft passed, so I pinned the thinnest stalk down firmly with the toe of my shoe. With slow, measured turns of my paws, I coaxed a strand of pale green embroidery floss under their stems and pulled the knot tight. A faint, peppery herbal scent rose as the fibers cinched together. After smoothing the loose ends, I slotted the finished bundle upright inside an empty brass thimble, perfectly balanced.
