A Bird's Eye Snack

I scrambled along the top rail of the balcony to get a wider look at the street below, when a soft flutter landed right beside me! A curious little gray sparrow hopped onto the painted iron bar, tilting its head sideways at my bright suit. I froze mid-step so I wouldn't spook my new visitor. Spotting an abandoned dried sunflower seed wedged in the rail joint, I nudged it forward across the metal with my boot. The bird gave a quick chirp, snatched the seed in its beak, and took off over the trees. First successful neighborhood diplomacy on patrol!
