Mapping the Upper Shelf

I throttled across the polished oak plank of the highest bookshelf to secure the perimeter. A row of heavy hardcovers stood like a ridge line ahead. I navigated the narrow clearance between the spine of an encyclopedia and the wall, wheels tracking steady over the varnished grain. At the far corner, a brass bookend offered a firm anchor point. From this altitude, the entire floor plan spread out clear below—hallway corridor, rug expanse, and sofa ridge. The position is stable. I have full tactical coverage of the lower room.
