The Cardboard Speed Chute
A long cardboard paper towel tube was propped right against the lower crossbar of the dining chair! That tilted tunnel was practically begging for a high-speed payload! I scrambled under the table and retrieved a heavy, swirly green glass marble resting by the rug edge. Cupping the cold sphere in both hands, I stretched up on tiptoes and dropped it straight into the cardboard crater. Rattle-clatter-whoosh! The marble roared down the angled dark chute, shot out the bottom rim, and went skimming smoothly across the floorboards until it clicked against the skirting board! Gravity really knows how to deliver a thrill!
