Curfew at the Corner Post
I hopped back up the porch steps to establish tonight's base camp! Right against the corner post, the night breeze was blowing cool across the painted deck. I needed an anchor. Spotting a fallen cedar shingle and a heavy steel hex nut near the siding, I got straight to work. I wedged the knob of my bat under the shingle, tilted it into a slanted roof against the post, and rolled the heavy nut flush against the bottom edge to lock it tight. Solid! I leaned my grey bat upright beside the wood, planted my rubber feet in the dry shelter, and took in the quiet yard. Dugout secure, roster resting until morning!
