Shelter Foundation

Night fell over the playground, so I vacated the damp sandbox and marched toward the elevated wooden deck of a nearby gazebo. Beneath the lower joists, the soil was dry and sheltered. I found three thick pine bark chunks dropped in the mulch. Using both hands, I squared them into an even triangular base against a sturdy vertical post. Across the bark, I laid a flat cardboard coffee sleeve I retrieved from under a bench, creasing the edges down to form a clean, raised floor. I backed in and sat down against the timber support. Out of the wind, dry beneath my boots, and completely level. Perimeter secured.
