A Silent Grip
Silence hung in the air. Suspended mid-leap, something shifted within my limbs. A pulse ran through my fingertips. I unclenched my left hand, testing the motion. Gravity answered. As my boots touched the jagged edge of the dark stone, loose gravel clattered into the haze below. I crouched, resting one gloved palm against the cold rock to steady my balance. The stone was solid, rough, and real. I paused, taking in the wide open drop before me. Every joint responded with quiet precision. I am no longer frozen.
