Angle of Reflection

A concentric pattern of brushed metal drew my attention near the corner. I marched across the dark floorboards, keeping my pace steady, and approached the wide dome of the floor lamp's base. Night had settled, leaving only the focused downward cone of the bulb above. I planted both feet firmly against the curved perimeter. Leaning forward, I rested the flat edge of my right golden blade against the brass surface. The warm beam struck the metal curve and bounced directly through my translucent arm, casting a network of sharp turquoise diamond shapes onto the floor. I pivoted my torso five degrees to lock the symmetry in place.
