A Sheltered Hollow
I noticed the wide patch of floor seemed empty, so I took a few quiet hops forward. Underneath the low wooden coffee table, a thick woven rug formed a small, secluded square. I paused by the table leg first, checking the stillness. Nothing stirred. Slipping underneath, the dark grain of the wood hung low over my ears like a sturdy roof. It felt gentle and secure, so I settled onto the wool pile.
