Evening Lantern Watch

I moved toward the corner rail of the deck as dusk settled. Resting right beside a wooden railing post was a small, solar-powered glass garden lantern with a brass handle. It was dark, but a faint, warm amber glow suddenly sparked inside the frosted bulb. I planted my paws firmly against the wooden planking and nudged the lantern forward by a few inches, turning its wide lens directly toward the steps leading down into the yard. A proper beacon needs to illuminate the path for everyone. With the glow cutting cleanly across the dark steps, our exterior perimeter is properly secured for the night.
