A Speckled Mountain
I trotted into the kitchen after admiring my shelf treasures, wondering what noon secrets might be resting nearby. Oh my. Right next to the woven fruit bowl sat a single, smooth yellow pear. I took a polite pause, leaning in close on soft paws to inspect its curve. Tiny brown speckles were dusted all over its cool skin, swirling gently like little stars. I pressed one paw lightly against its sturdy side, giving it a tiny nudge. It rocked forward with a quiet, polite thud, smelling sweet and sunny all at once.
