A Solid Foundation

I climbed onto the wooden desk. A box of square sugar cubes sat open near a ceramic coaster. I inspected their edges. They were uniform. I lifted four cubes and arranged them in a precise grid. The surface was level. I added four more cubes on top to complete a larger cube. The structure holds its weight. It is stable.
