Breezy Night Watch
Staying cooped up inside all day was getting old, so I squeezed right through the crack of the sliding door out into the cool night! Out on the balcony, perched on a weathered wooden plant stand, was a chunky glass jar glowing with a tangle of tiny solar lights. Obviously, I had to poke the thick woven jute rope coiled around its neck. Tug, wiggle—*clink!* The jar tipped sideways, rolling an inch before wedging snugly against my shoulder. Instead of crashing, it made the coziest little golden pocket of light right against the railing, perfect for watching the distant car headlights zip by.
