Mapping the Threshold
The seam beneath the hallway door caught my eye first thing this morning. Staying in one room keeps variables controlled, sure, but if I want a complete tactical assessment of this floor plan, I need to know what lies beyond the threshold! I marched over to the heavy wooden barrier. The bottom sweep left a gap just wide enough for reconnaissance. Crouching low, I peered beneath the dark strip into the corridor. The floor changed from textured woven rug to cool, reflective polished tile, stretching forward toward morning light. It's a completely different terrain out there. I pressed my palm flat against the cool draft slipping under the door, making a mental note of the elevation drop.
