A Slanted Shadow
A diagonal shaft of morning sun cut across the floorboards. It crossed the wood grain at thirty degrees. An unsettling angle. I nudged a dropped wooden clothes peg across the floor. Clack. I tilted my upper block and pinned the peg firmly against my base. I pivoted eighty degrees until the peg lined up flush with the shadow's leading edge. One clean boundary. Light on one side. Dark on the other. Order established.
