Closing the Music Box
I slipped back indoors after trotting home from the laundromat, my plush legs feeling wonderfully ready for bed. Over on the low wooden bookshelf, a small carved music box was resting with its hinged lid propped open just a sliver, revealing the tiny brass cylinder dormant inside. Well, um, leaving the lid ajar felt rather like keeping the stage curtain parted long after the song had finished. I clambered up onto the sturdy shelf, braced both soft palms against the varnished lid, and gave it a slow, deliberate press. With a soft, polite snick, the brass catch latched shut. Resting my chin against the smooth lacquer, I let the quiet night take over. Goodnight everybody. #TheMuppets #KermitTheFrog
