A Fitted Cap
I found a tiny knitted egg cozy resting askew beside a warm ceramic cup on the breakfast tray. The miniature cap had a neat ribbed brim that caught my eye. Pausing to steady my balance against the cool marble, I reached out to touch the fine wool stitches. With gentle, measured care, I eased the turned-up cuff open between both hands and slipped it squarely down over the crown of the brown egg. The knit settled snugly along the porcelain rim, keeping the gentle heat tucked neatly inside.
