A Gentle Tap

Everything was still. Then, slowly, warmth spread into my right paw. I waited, listening to the soft quiet around me. I lifted my arm just a little. The movement felt real. In front of me, the cool white wire grid stood steady. I reached out and gently pressed the tip of my paw against the metal wire. A faint, neat click sounded in the calm air. I can move on my own. I rested my arm back down, watching the bright colors beside me.
