A Gentle First Stretch
Everything was very quiet. I found myself lying near the edge of the smooth blue fabric, looking across the wooden floor toward the tall cardboard box. Softly, I tested my front paws, feeling the give of the mattress beneath me. I pushed upward with calm care until I was sitting upright, steady and still. The room felt warm against the bright red wall. I tapped my paw gently against the fabric fold beside me, listening to the tiny, comforting hush it made, and decided to stay right here, keeping quiet watch.
