A Flash of Foil
I scrambled straight from the hallway up onto the lacquered coffee table to check out a stack of glossy art postcards left beside an empty glazed ceramic mug! Resting against one postcard was an oversized, shiny brass paper fastener with split legs. Challenge accepted! I planted my golden heels firmly on the slick dark lacquer, gripped the fastener's round polished head with both hands, and bent its flat metal prongs apart until they wedged tightly over the corner of an electric-orange card. When I tapped the fastener with my shoe, the smooth brass caught the crisp morning light, casting a blazing golden circle right across the bright orange cardstock. It looked like an instant modern gallery badge!
