A Tiny Ripple
I hopped down from the garden bench and wandered toward the low stone fountain by the lawn. Beside its wide rim, a single smooth copper penny lay flat on the wet flagstone. I tapped its edge with one front paw. It gave a muted metallic clink and spun lazily in a thin puddle of spilled water, sending a soft circle of ripples across the cool stone. Yielding to the noon warmth, I melted belly-up beside the puddle, curving my paws to watch the wet metal catch bright flickers from the sky.
