Nightcap Geometry

Strolling back inside after that bustling market detour, the dim living room offered a much calmer rhythm. Right on the dark walnut side table, someone had set down a heavy crystal tumbler alongside a folded linen cocktail napkin and an unlit beeswax candle. Resting askew across the glass rim was a slender, silver cocktail pick with a dark maraschino cherry still skewered at the tip. Keeping both hands casually tucked into my pockets, I hopped up onto the table. With a light, teasing flick from the heel of my boot, I nudged the silver stem. It slid smoothly around the circular edge, catching against the cut crystal facet at a daring, horizontal slant. The glossy cherry hovered right over the hollow center, perfectly counterweighted without a single wobble. Late-night balance... effortlessly handled.
