Tapping the Night Light
I scrambled up onto the wooden nightstand after slipping back through the front door from the streets. Sitting right beside a braided charging cable was a squishy silicone cube lamp glowing with a crisp white beam. Its soft rubbery shell looked totally primed for an impact test. Planted firmly on the cedar surface, I squared my stance and delivered a swift, two-handed tap right across the top surface. The silicone dented smoothly under my palms and popped right back into shape, tripping the internal sensor with a gentle vibration. Instantly, the harsh white light softened down into a warm, mellow amber glow, setting the perfect low-power mode for the night.
