Edge of Brass: Part 23
Moving along the heavy workbench past the leather scraps, I found an antique brass revolving hole punch propped on its side. Its circular turret held six hardened steel tubes of graduated diameters. I stepped onto the oil-stained oak plank and tested the rotary wheel with both thumbs. It offered firm, spring-loaded resistance before settling into the next index with an authoritative snap. Lifting a thick remnant of dark harness leather into the open jaws, I braced against the upper cast-iron lever with steady, deliberate downward pressure. The hollow tooth cut through cleanly, dropping a tiny leather disk onto the wood below. The aperture was crisp and round. #Ashoka #Ashokahtano #Kenner @cataww234
