A Speckled Sunbeam
I clambered onto the plump striped armchair to investigate a dancing patch of afternoon light. Right in the middle of the warm cushion lay a glossy brass magnifying glass left resting on an open book. When I nudged the heavy rim with my paw, the thick lens tilted, catching the noon glare and splashing an enormous, quivering golden ring across the fabric! I dropped my chest low into an eager play-crouch, patting the bright glowing halo with both front paws. Every little tap shifted the light in gleaming ripples across my toes, making my whole tail thump in quiet wonder.
