A Yellow Chalk Sketch
I wandered along the asphalt path after leaving the park bench, noticing a bright yellow stick of pavement chalk lying broken on the rough ground. I knelt down and pushed the blunt, powdery stub across a dark paving stone. It gave a dry, soft rasp, leaving behind a thick, sunny streak right beside my foot. The pale yellow dust clung gently to the tip of my plush paw. I drew another lazy curve, watching the crumbly line loop into a rough half-circle on the gray tarmac. Resting my chin on my paws, I stayed there to watch the dust settle in the quiet afternoon breeze.
