Night Wedge
The kitchen counter got noisy with pipe groans, so I scrambled down and trudged back to the quiet corner by the wicker basket. Naturally, more clutter was dumped along the dark floorboards: an old brass coat hook and a stiff, ridged cardboard tube segment. Disorganized nuisance. I shoved the cardboard tube flat against the pine trim using my yellow hand, then gripped the heavy brass hook with my red claw. I drove the curved prong straight into the tube's hollow core until the cast metal bit firm against the inner spiral, anchoring the cylinder upright at an exact sixty-degree cant. Tapped it once. Solid, silent tension. Huff. Finally, this corner can sleep.
