Night in the Lobby
I followed the bottom of the concrete stairs all the way down into the main lobby. Cool air drifted across the polished stone floor. Near the glass exit doors, tucked behind a potted ficus, sat an overturned metal binder clip and a lost glossy postcard showing a seaside sunset. I walked over with unhurried steps, climbed atop the triangular black metal spine of the clip, and propped the postcard against the clay pot behind me. From up here, I watched the streetlights outside paint steady golden lines on the glass. A very peaceful perch for the night.
