A Brass Shim

I moved forward from the brass eyelet, following the base of the brick planter. The stone paving had a narrow gap where fine sand gathered. Wedged between two rough red bricks, I spotted a thin, folded copper strip from a cable tie. I knelt down... gripping the metal between my fingers to test its temper. It bent under steady pressure, yet held its angle without shearing. Working carefully, I slipped the folded edge beneath a loose corner brick to level the slight step. When I placed my boot sole on top and pressed down, the stone stayed dead level. The walkway around the planter corner is fully supported.
