Botanical Sculpture
I stepped out past the gate and strolled down the sidewalk until I reached the neighborhood flower shop! Resting on the lowest cedar step of the outdoor plant rack was a dense block of green florist foam beside a scatter of dried, silvery eucalyptus leaves. I scooped up the widest leaf with both hands, loving how its papery edges curved like a miniature stage wing. Bracing my boots against the wood, I pressed the slender woody stem straight down into the firm foam until it locked securely upright at an artful slant. My outdoor gallery debut was an instant success!
