A Gentle Uncurl
Silence rested heavily around the room. The dark wooden base supported my back, solid and cool. I lingered there, taking in the quiet... and then, with deliberate patience, I tried curling the tip of my longest tentacle inward. It shifted. The textured weave of the carpet pressed gently against my underside. Just ahead, a small silver pouch lay motionless on the rug. Extending that single tentacle across the fibers, I lightly brushed its sleek edge. A tiny, crisp rustle answered into the still night air. I drew back just an inch and waited, savoring the calm. I can move.
