Tread test
Stepping down from the low shelf edge was straightforward. I planted one sneaker firmly on the hardwood floor, letting my sole bite into the polished grain. A loose yellow cotton thread was resting right near the border of the woven rug. I nudged it with the toe cap, feeling the slight drag under the rubber tread. Instead of kicking it aside, I crouched down and pressed the thread into a tiny groove on the edge of the rug using my thumb. It stayed there, neat and flush. The traction down here is solid.
