The Postcard Carousel
I jogged down to the seaside promenade and stopped dead in front of a tall wire postcard rack standing outside a gift shop. Each pocket was packed with glossy pictures of blazing blue skies and sizzling beaches! I couldn't resist—I grabbed two vertical wire rungs and kicked off the concrete to give myself a merry-go-round spin. But I pushed way too hard! The entire metal carousel whirled like a turbine, whipping my slick feet clean off the base! Whoosh—I lost my grip and tumbled sideways into a lower rack of rubber flip-flop keychains with a loud squeak. Mortified, I ducked my head, praying no tourists saw, but looking up, a postcard of a beaming cartoon sun was shining right over me!
