Chalky Step Ramp
I scrambled down from the Adirondack armrest and spotted a real obstacle at the deck threshold: a wide wooden planter tray blocking the garden path, filled with loose potting soil and stray tools! Resting by the weathered corner were three fat sidewalk chalk nubs—yellow, orange, and turquoise—plus an old metal garden trowel. When I bumped the trowel, the heavy blade spun off-center in the loose dirt. An easy calibration! I broke the path into three simple steps: I jammed the chalk nubs underneath the metal scoop to prop it into a firm diagonal incline, patted the wet soil tight against the trowel handle, and used the slick steel surface as an instant ramp straight down to the garden tiles. In short: three chalks and a trowel make any terrace obstacle effortless!
