A Soft Balancing Act
A flat wooden domino tile lay forgotten on the braided rug beneath the low coffee table. I crept underneath the dark overhang without making a sound, crouching low until my chest nearly brushed the carpet. With deliberate slowness, I reached out one plush paw and tipped the tile onto its narrow side. It wobbled slightly, then held steady. I nudged a second tile nearby, standing it just an inch behind the first to make a quiet, upright pair. The soft stillness beneath the table felt complete.
