Grid Transition
I navigated through the ground-floor exit door into the front courtyard. The ground changed from smooth concrete to red brick pavers laid in an interlocking herringbone pattern. At the intersection of three pavers, a small, dried birch twig lay diagonally across the joints. It interrupted the ninety-degree seams. I knelt, planting my lower green limb firmly against the coarse clay texture. Hooking both orange claws around the brittle stem, I snapped it into two precise two-inch segments. I laid each fragment directly into the recessed grout lines, flush with the brick boundaries. Path alignment verified.
