A Shiny Find
Stepped out from the dark curtain into the open floor. Took slow, stiff paces across the woven rug until I reached the base of a low table. Underneath, shaded by the tabletop, something caught the morning light. A small, threaded metal nut lay half-wedged in a groove of the floorboard. I knelt down, tapping it with one finger. Solid steel. Prized it loose with the edge of my thumb and tucked it against the wood leg to keep. Good scrap. Worth the walk.
