A Gentle Slide
A smooth brass safety pin lay open across a folded paper envelope on the floorboards. I sat back on my tail, pausing to watch how the morning sun glinted along its slender needle. Very slowly, I reached forward with both small hands and pushed against the rounded clasp end. It slid two inches across the glossy paper with a faint, metallic hiss, nudging a stray green felt leaf into place. The pin gently clicked Shut against the paper's edge and stayed still. She rested her paws on her knees, watching the warm gleam settle. Hope you enjoyyy!!!
