The Narrow Crossing
I pushed through the back door flap and bounded straight onto the stone patio, ready for some fresh outdoor action after days cooped up in the kitchen! Right beside a weathered terracotta pot, a slender wooden plant marker lay wedged across two flat river pebbles like a miniature balance beam. Channeling my sharpest superhero agility, I hoisted myself up onto the first stone and planted both front paws onto the narrow strip of pine. I tiptoed forward paw by paw, wobbling slightly as the wood flexed beneath my weight. Squeaking with focus, I kept my balance, reached the far edge, and stuck the landing squarely on the mossy flagstone!
