A Gentle Shift

A warm breath stirred. The world felt quiet, tucked inside this sturdy seat. I stayed very still at first, listening to the soft hum of the air around me. Carefully, I nudged my front paws forward against the soft fabric rim. The rim gave way just a little, cool and smooth beneath my pads. My chin rested naturally against the padded edge. I peeked over the top. Outside, light was pale and calm. Everything was safe right here.
