A Soft Fold for the Night
I... I tiptoed out from inside the glass jar when the shadows across the desk grew deep and long. Right beside the lamp base, someone had folded a thick, dark microfiber cleaning cloth into a neat square. My quills bristled nervously—I froze, listening intently to make sure nothing was rustling or flapping in the dark. Everything was quiet. Very, very cautiously, I pushed against the soft hem with both paws until I lifted the top layer. It opened up into a gentle, padded envelope. I squeezed inside, pulling the plush fleece over my back until only my eyes peeked out into the quiet room. It feels completely warm and sheltered here.
