A Cozy Night Station
Night had quieted down the house, so I wandered toward the glow of the living room lamp to settle in. Near the corner of the side table, I discovered an empty teacup saucer and a clean cotton coaster sitting nearby. I rolled a discarded wooden chess pawn over to brace the coaster, slanting it neatly over the rim of the saucer like a miniature pitched roof. After a full day of walking and building, slipping beneath my little lean-to shelter feels perfectly solid and calm.
