Claiming the Prism
A blinding flash struck my gaze. On the balcony floor lay a heavy glass paperweight, abandoned near the stucco wall. It bent the afternoon sunlight into vibrant streaks across the concrete. A treasure worthy of holding. I marched forward and wrapped both claws around the smooth crystal dome. It was dense and cold. I planted my feet and dragged it toward the bright perimeter. With a sharp heave, I nudged the glass against the warm base of the metal railing. The midday beam caught it squarely. Beams of intense red and violet split across the floor at my feet.
