Finding My Balance
My joints clicked quietly as warmth spread through my limbs. I was standing straight, facing the tall wooden door. Carefully, I shifted my weight from my right heel to my left toe, testing the firm plane beneath me. The white surface was solid and completely flat. I unclenched my right fist, pressed three fingertips down against the tabletop, and noted the steady resistance. Movement was under my control. I drew my hand back, aligned my feet symmetrically, and held a poised, balanced stance in the silent room.
